Kirsten Winthers | Empowering Minds Through Art Therapy
Group Art Therapy Sessions
Group art therapy sessions provide a unique opportunity to connect with others while exploring personal challenges in a supportive and collaborative environment.I have designed and facilitated group programs tailored to the specific needs of various populations, including youth in educational settings, women and children impacted by domestic violence, and individuals experiencing crisis. These sessions foster a sense of community, provide mutual support, and encourage shared healing through creative expression and collective growth.
What to expect in Group Art Therapy
Group art therapy offers a supportive and nurturing environment where participants can explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences through creative expression. I take a person-centred approach, ensuring that each group session is tailored to meet the collective and individual needs of the participants. In the initial session, we’ll establish a shared understanding of the group’s goals and themes, creating a safe and welcoming space for connection and growth.

Sessions incorporate a variety of artistic mediums, movement, mindfulness practices, and elements of talk therapy, fostering a holistic and dynamic experience. A wide range of materials and creative tools are provided, encouraging meaningful self-expression and collaboration in a way that feels comfortable and engaging for all participants.

To ensure progress and growth, I provide written summaries every 4–6 weeks. These summaries outline the themes explored in the sessions, the creative activities undertaken, and the progress made by the group as a whole, while also highlighting any key insights. This collaborative approach ensures that the group’s journey evolves to meet its needs, empowering each participant to feel supported and valued throughout the process.
